1,300 acres. Nine miles of shoreline. One address.
The Point is a private, master-planned waterfront community wrapped around Trump National Golf Club Charlotte in Mooresville, North Carolina.
1,300 acres. Nine…
Developed beginning in the late 1990s on a spectacular peninsula of Lake Norman, The Point set out to do something rare in the Southeast — combine championship golf, deepwater estate lots, and a genuine sense of neighborhood inside a single gated enclave.
Two decades later, it remains the address by which every other luxury community around Charlotte is measured.
A peninsula, by design.
Winding parkways, mature hardwoods, and long lake views define the drive in. The community was planned so that no home is more than a short walk from either the water or the course — and many homes enjoy both.
Homesites range from courtyard-scale golf villas to multi-acre waterfront estates with private, covered slips and deepwater dockage.

Life on the lake.
Nine miles of shoreline mean quiet coves for morning coffee, open water for afternoon cruising, and long, unhurried sunsets from the dock. The Point Marina, community pool, tennis, pickleball, walking trails, and clubhouse complete the picture.
- Private, gated entry with 24-hour security
- Community marina with wet & dry storage
- Walking and biking trails throughout
- Junior Olympic pool, tennis & pickleball
- Trump National Golf Club Charlotte membership eligibility

How the community is laid out.
The peninsula reads as a series of neighborhoods rather than one continuous grid. Waterfront streets follow the shoreline and its coves; fairway streets trace the golf routing through the middle of the community; interior wooded sections sit between the two, generally on larger, quieter lots at more approachable prices.
Because the roads are private and follow the land, through traffic is rare. That is the practical difference most visitors notice first: the streets are used by residents, walkers, and carts, and very little else.
Getting here, and getting around.
The Point sits on the western side of Lake Norman in Mooresville, in Iredell County. Uptown Charlotte is roughly a 40-minute drive in normal conditions, Charlotte Douglas International Airport around 35 to 45 minutes, and Mooresville's everyday shopping, medical offices, and restaurants are far closer than that.
Inside the gates, most households keep a golf cart. Between the clubhouse, marina, pool, courts, and trails, it is the vehicle that actually gets used on a weekend.
Who lives here.
The mix is broader than the golf reputation suggests: families with school-age children, executives commuting toward Charlotte, retirees who came for the water, and a steady number of out-of-state buyers relocating from the Northeast, Florida, and California.
What holds it together is the calendar. Between club programming, the marina season, neighborhood gatherings, and the trails, the community is used rather than merely owned — which is what separates it from resort developments where half the houses sit dark most of the year.
Association and club, kept straight.
Two separate organizations shape life here. The community association governs covenants, private streets, gates, and shared amenities, and is funded by homeowner assessments. Trump National Golf Club Charlotte is a private club with its own membership, dues, and governance, and joining is optional.
Buyers frequently conflate the two and budget incorrectly as a result. Ask for current association documents and assessment figures during due diligence, and speak to the club separately about membership. This website is an independent editorial guide and is affiliated with neither organization.
